Red Nose Day

 Hey everyone!

I know I'm such a horrible person. I haven't updated in weeks. Yes, my camera is still broken. The pictures today are from a little while ago but I'm posting them today because they were inspired by Red Nose Day which is TOMORROW(or today depending on where you live...)! Oh, and please excuse my cuticles, they're just in really bad conditions...

 Let me explain Red Nose Day a little. Red Nose Day is a fundraiser in the UK that helps support people living in severe poverty in Africa and gives shelter to young people living on the streets in the UK. It really is a wonderful cause. They get a load of UK celebrities, like Jessie J, and they all promote Red Nose Day by doing challenges.

My nails symbolize, from thumb to pinky, the logo, the Union Jack, Text "Yes" to 70005 (you can donate £5 by texting that), a red nose, and just some random dots.

  Okay, now back to nails. I started off with a base of Pure Ice "Super Star!" on my thumb, middle finger and pinky. On my index finger I used one coat of Nailtini "Navy Grog" and my ring finger has 2 coats of The Color Workshop "Cherry Red Lamborghini" I free handed all of the detailing with acrylic paint except the polka dots on my pinky. I used a dotting tool and CRL to make those. I top coated everything with Out The Door (which is still smudging my nails by the way)

Bad News....

I'm sorry I haven't been posting that much! School's a little hectic right now. But, I come bearing bad news. My camera broke! And it had some of my newer pictures that I didn't have a chance to upload on it. :( So until I get it fixed you'll be stuck with old pictures. I'm sorry!

Water Spotted Nails

Hi guys!

I'm sorry I haven't posted in the past week. I've just been really sick and wasn't up for doing anything. I was feeling better today so I decided to try a method that I've been wanting to do since I found out about it. The link to the tutorial is here.

They're cool right? Mine didn't come out nearly as well as hers did but ohs well. I started out with a one coat of Pure Ice "Super Star!". Then I painted random splotches of LA Colors "Yellow" and "Bright Green", Simple Pleasures "Barbie Girl", and Avon "Blue." After I taped around my fingers to make clean up easier and did the water spotting technique with Nailtini "Espresso". I top coated with Out The Door and finished! I'm having a bit of trouble with Out The Door because it keeps smudging my nails! The nail polish could be dry for a half an hour and it still smudges.

I had a bit of trouble with this technique. I'm sure if I'm not spraying the hand sanitizer right or I wasn't using the right type of hand sanitizer, but more than once when I sprayed it in, the polish would just kind of shrink into a tiny blob.

What do you think of this technique? Yes? No?

Happy Valentine's Day!

 Hey peeps!

 It's Valentine's Day! Or as I like to call it, Single's Awareness Day. Hope you all had fun and ate lots of candy. I just have a simple valentines water marble for you today.

 I started with a base of Pure Ice "Super Star!" then I water marbled with China Glaze "Winter Berry", The Color Workshop "Rose Satin", and Super Star!

 I still suck at water marbling but it's better than before. This is definitely an improvement than my Christmas water marble.

My favorite nail has to be my index or thumb because they're not a traditional water marble but they still look really cool. I'm really mad because my top coat smudged my nails! >:(

Happy Mardi Gras!

Hey guys!

Oops, I was going to post this yesterday but I forgot so happy late Mardi Gras! For this holiday I created this simple look.

I started all my nails off with two coats of Pure Ice "Super Star!". On my thumb and pink I created a gradient with LA Colors "Yellow", China Glaze "Holly-Day", and Simple Pleasures "Are You Grap-ful?" Are You Grape-ful looks more blue here buts it's more purplely in real life. On my index and middle finger I dry marbled with the same three colors using a toothpick.

On my ring finger I started off by lightly sponging Yellow, Holly-Day and Are You Grape-ful randomly as a background. When that dried I used white acrylic paint to outline the shape of the mask and feathers. After that I filled it in using Pure Ice "Unzip Me" for the mask, black acrylic paint for the outlines and eye holes, and LA Colors "Bright Green" for the feather. Top coated with Out The Door and done!

I'll have a Valentine's day post up tomorrow. I don't post that much Valentine's day stuff because I'm forever alone, but I do like doing holiday manis.

I'm Entering My First Nail Art Contest!

This is my contest entry for Kelsie's Nail Files 1 Year Blogiversary Nail Art Contest. The link to the contest can be found here. The contest is actually ending in 12 hours, so if you want to enter hurry up! For this nail art contest you had to create a manicure inspired by something on her Nail Inspiration pinterest board. I actually created two manicures for this but I didn't like the way the first one came out, so this is my second attempt.

 This is a really fun, geometric skittles manicure! To create this I painted a base of Pure Ice "Super Star!" on my thumb, ring, and pinky. Then I painted my index and middle finger with Nailtini "Espresso". On my index finger I used white acrylic paint to outline the geometric shapes then went over it with blue, yellow, red, and gray acrylic paint. On my middle finger, I used white acrylic paint to draw the triangles.

On my ring finger I mixed each color using acrylic paints and a striper to create the intersecting lines. On my pinky I made vertical stripes with acrylic paints then went over it with triangular shapes. I top coated everything with Out The Door. My favorite nail is my ring finger. I don't know why.

Glitter and Rhinestones

Today's mani was inspired by my shoes. I recently got a new pair of flats so I did my nails to match them.

I started off with a base of Nailtini "Caviar Cocktail" on all my nails and made a half moon using paper hole reinforcements on my ring finger. On all my nails except my ring finger I sponged some Pure Ice "Beeware" to create a gradient.

On my ring finger I used some loose silver glitter that I bought at Dollar Tree and placed them on wet nail polish using a toothpick dipped in some water. Then I took some small clear rhinestones that were just lying around my house and stuck them on wet polish using tweezers. I top coated everything with Out The Door.

These are my shoes! Ahh, they're so comfortable and cute. :)

Mint and Chocolate

Hello!

Today I have some skittles nails for you. Does this count as skittles because only 3 of my nails are different? Whatever, I'm still calling them skittle nails.

I started with a base of Sinful Colors "Nirvana" on all of my nails. On my pinky and index finger I used one coat of e.l.f. "Golden Goddess." On my ring finger I used a striper and Pure Ice "Super Star!" and painted a thick X on my nail. When that was dry I used e.l.f. "Mint Dream and painted a thinner X inside the white X. After I used a really thin brush and some black acrylic paint to outline the X's. After everything was dry I top coated it with Out The Door.

As you can see, I'm playing around with poses and stuff.

I love the color combination of mint and brown. At first I wasn't sure if I would like skittles nail because I like accent nails, but after this you will definitely be seeing more skittles manicures on this blog!

e.l.f Glam Bam Nail Polish Set

Hello everybody!

Today I had the other elf trio set. You can find the first one here.

This set contains a glitter topper and two shimmer polishes. It's the same as the other set where the the bottles are half the size of a normal bottle. Everything is top coated with Out The Door.

First up is Blush. Blush a sheer, shimmery, nude, copper shade. I think it would be a better color on someone with a paler skin tone. I'm Asian so I have pretty tan skin. This is three coats.

Next, we have Cranberry. Cranberry is gorgeous. You can probably tell that I love the dark wine colored polishes. Cranberry is a beautiful, shimmery, redish, wine. This is two coats.

Finally we have Golden Goddess. This is a gold glitter topper with silver holographic hex glitters. I used one coat on my index and middle finger and 4 coats on my ring and pinky finger. The sliver hexes were a bit spare so I had to place them a bit.

This is Golden Goddess over Blush, one coat on the index and middle, two coats on the ring and pinky.

This is Golden Goddess over Cranberry. I put it on the same way as Blush.

To be honest I only bought this set because of Golden Goddess. But Cranberry turned out to be my favorite of this set! Overall I really liked this collection. The formulas on these were significantly better than the vacation trio. Maybe I got a bad pack? These would be great gifts for friends! And they're also really cheap. I got both for $2.99 at Marshall's.

e.l.f. Vacation Trio Nail Polish Set

Hey guys!

So I figured since my nails are all messed up and weird I would give you guys some swatches. My nails don't have to be perfect for swatches do they? Yes? No? So I recently got two e.l.f trio sets and this is the first one. I'll have the second one up tomorrow.

There are three polishes (obviously) in each set. Each bottle is half the size of a normal bottle. There are three cremes in this set. For these swatches, I top coated everything with Out The Door.

First one is Lilac. Lilac is a nice... lilac color. The formula on this one was streaky and thick. It smoothed out with top coat though. This is three coats.

This is Punk Purple. Punk Purple is a maroonish purple color. I think this one was the best formula wise. This is two coats.

Lastly we have Mint Cream. It's a mint color that tends to lean more to a light teal than mint in certain lighting. Formula wise it was horrible. It was streaky and thick like Lilac. It took four coats to smooth it out and you can still see streaks in it. It's a shame because I really love the color.

Overall I like the colors but the formulas aren't the best. Oh wells, they'll make a nice addition to my slowly growing collection.

Melted Crayons

 Hey everybody!

Heads up, today's posts pictures are not very good. They're blurry and just not good quality at all.I was early in the morning and I had to leave to go to midterms and I have a tendency to pick at my nails (Don't do that, it's very bad for your nails) so I wanted to take a picture of them before I left. I'll probably end up redoing them just cause I don't have a good picture of them and I don't think I did my best job on these. Also you can see where my nail broke on my ring finger. :(

 

 Today's manicure was inspired by this melted crayon art. I really like how they incorporated the cut out silhouettes of people into the artwork.

 

 

 I started with a base of Pure Ice "Super Star!" on all of my nails and created the gradient using a sponge on my index, middle, and pinky fingers with Super Star! and China Glaze "Holly-Day" I used a small dotting tool on my ring finger and thumb to create the melted "crayons" with Simple Pleasures "You're Lime-ing", LA Colors "Bright Green", and Holly-Day. I also mixed some of those colors together to create the drips. Then I took a striper and black acrylic paint and I painted the silhouette of the girl on the swing. I top coated everything with Out The Door. (Yay! I finally got a new topcoat!)

I'm such a horrible person! I haven't posted in a month! I've been studying like mad for midterms and stuff and I just haven't had time to do any nail art. Also my nail broke :( so I just ended up filing all my nails down really short, so my nails weren't in any shape for nail art.
So I will have a post up shortly after I get my act together.
