Stained Ornaments

After yesterday's nail disaster I wanted to do something a little more artsy on my nails. So I consulted Google for some christmasy pictures and came across these really cute stained ornaments so they were the inspiration for today's mani.

The colors I used were Pure Ice "Unzip Me", "Super Star!", "Crimson, China Glaze "Holly-Day", "Winter Berry", Wet n Wild "Metallica", Simple Pleasures "Too Blue For School", and LA Colors "Yellow" (Very original name)

To do this is basically did a watercolor mani but instead of just dabbing the colors in random spots, I used the brush and brought the color down from my cuticle.

Happy holidays everyone! :) Have fun and eat lots!

A Christmasy cocktail mani

I've been so busy lately so I just came up with a simple cocktail mani. A cocktail mani is when you paints the thumb, index, and middle fingers a bright contrasting color from the other 7 nails because those are usually the fingers that you would hold a cocktail with

The red is China Glaze "Winter Berry" and the yellow is Pure Ice "Unzip Me". Top coated with Spoiled "X-Ray Vision" I only have one picture because after I took this picture I whacked my hand into a drawer and totally messed up like three of my nails and I was lazy so I didn't want to redo them.

Black and White Rainbow

You might have figured out that I don't like writing or typing stuff so I will usually not write a ton.
Today I have a mani that I kinda don't like. It was inspired from this picture. It didn't really turn out the way I wanted it to but oh wells.

I started with a base of Pure Ice "Electric" and very lightly sponged a bit of Pure Ice "Super Star!" Then using Super Star! I created a white stripe which I filled in by using watered down acrylic paints. The rainbow part is a bit of a variation of the watercolor technique. When you use watered down acrylic paints the look is a bit softer and blended out then when you use nail polish. I top coated everything with Spoiled "X-Ray Vision"

My friend said that I should've put Nyan Cat on my thumb. LOL. But that wouldn't have worked out anyways. Nyan cat is a different mani for a different day.

As you can see, using watered down acrylic paints make the look softer more blended and kind of translucent like a real rainbow.

Pretty Poinsettia

I don't really have anything to say about this. And I'm being lazy and don't want to type so I'm just going to go straight to the pictures.

I started with a base of Pure Ice "Crimson" on all of my nails except my ring finger. Then I did a simple gradient using a sponge with Pure Ice "Unzip Me"

On my ring finger i started with a base of Pure Ice "Electric!" I'm just gonna say this. I love this color! It's beautiful! It has a black base with silver flecks in it. Match made in heaven. The flower part of the Poinsettia is China Glaze "Winter Berry" and the shadows were made by mixing Winter Berry with a bit of NK "Noir" The leaf is China Glaze "Holly-Day" and the lighter sections were made by mixing Holly-Day with a little Pure Ice "Superstar". The center of the flower was made by Unzip Me.

What do you think?

A Failed Christmas Water Marble

I suck at water marbling. I don't hate it. I'm just terrible at it. My problem is not that I can't drop the nail  polish in the water or draw out a design in the polish. Oh no, my problem is that when I dip my nail it the good part of the design goes on my finger or the tape and what actually ends up on my nail is the weird messed up part next to the cool design. It really is very frustration.

I started with a base of Pure Ice "Superstar!" I water marbled with China Glaze "Holly-Day", Pure Ice "Crimson" and Superstar! I top coated everything with Spoiled "X-Ray Vision"
Actually when I look at it, my ring finger isn't too bad..... At least the right side isn't.

Unnamed Polishes- NAMED!

Kay, so you know how I have a ton of unnamed polishes? Well, I've now named all of them! Yay! So I'm not gonna ramble so let's get to it!

First up is Simple Pleasures "Con-fushia Say" It's a bright purpley fushia color as said in the name.

Next is Simple Pleasures "Lucky New Year" LNY is a cool toned red.

This is a true candy/barbie pink  so I obviously had to name it "Barbie Girl"

A bright neon green landed it's name as "You're Lime-ing"

A dark almost indigo purple (BTW did you know that apparently they removed indigo from the rainbow? So now instead of ROY G BIV it's ROY G BV) It's name is "Are You Grape-ful?"

Next we have "Peach Perfect" It's a nice peach/coral color. The name was supposed to be like a spoof off of the movie Pitch Perfect.

This one is called "Too Blue For School" Yeah I know unoriginal. That's the last of the Simple Pleasures nail polishes. I still have 4 other unnamed polishes left though.

I named this one "Cherry Red Lamborghini" because in on of my favorite books the family has a cherry red Lamborghini and this is the color I imagined the car to be.

This one's called "Penny Perfect" It looks like a brand new shiny penny.

A pretty sheer shimmery pink. It's name is "Rose Satin"

Finally we have "Stop Your Wine-ing" I love this polish. It's a dark wine color with maroon shimmer that's absolutely gorgeous.

Just a Moment....

I just want to take a moment to tell you guys the tragic accident that occured 2 days ago. On December 2nd, two Shendehowa seniors, Chris Stewart and Deanna Rivers, were killed in a car crash because the driver in the other car was driving while intoxicated. Their friends Matt Hardy and Bailey Wind were also in the car at the time and were injured during the accident. I did not know these students personally but I live in the capital district and the news of this has greatly upset me. So just take a moment today and and be kind to others who may be mourning the loss of someone, and please, if you drink, do not get into a car and drive.

A Different Take on The Tradional French Manicure

Today's post is going to be short because I have to get to rehearsal soon. As you can see in the title I have a french manicure for you today except it's a bit more chic than a traditional french manicure. I actually got the idea from here.

I started with a base of Sally Hansen "Nude Now" and sponged on Pure Ice "Super Star!" and top coated everything with Spoiled "X-Ray Vision"

You may have noticed that I actually broke my middle nail. BTW I play viola pretty intensely so don't be surprised if I have broken uneven nails sometimes.

I wore it plain for a day and this afternoon I added some free handed curlycues with Super Star!
